What do you do with the mad that you feel?

“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”

- Fred Rogers

Many children (and adults) struggle with processing their big emotions. It is very important that our feelings and emotions are validated. I created these feeling flashcards to help children and their caretakers identify and work trough their emotions.

The feelings flashcards feature 20 emotions:

  • happy

  • sad

  • mad

  • afraid

  • surprised

  • proud

  • confused

  • disappointed

  • worried

  • frustrated

  • jealous

  • guilty

  • hopeful

  • embarrassed

  • grumpy

  • stressed

  • calm

  • excited

  • silly

  • shy

Also included is a sheet with simple definitions of those emotions, and worksheets with drawing and writing prompts to help children cope with their big feelings.

Mr. Rogers is a personal hero and is a big influence in our house. He had a wonderful way of validating the emotions of children.

Here's a list of our favorite Mr. Rogers books that help our family achieve emotional wellness.
